Celtic were victorious once again over Rangers at Hampden.
Adam Idah’s late winning goal for Celtic in the Scottish Cup final last season was dramatic, but the League Cup final on Sunday was a different level of drama altogether.
Celtic secured a penalty shootout victory following a six-goal thriller after extra-time, including both teams squandering and letting a lead slip.
It was Rangers who scored first after Greg Taylor’s mistake and a simply forgettable opening 45 minutes from Brendan Rodgers’ side.
There are moments in a final that always prove to be defining and Cameron Carter-Vickers’ incredible interception against four Rangers players at 1-0 was the best of the lot.
That allowed Celtic to equalise moments later, before Daizen Maeda thought he turned the game around, but Rangers, even after Nicolas Kuhn’s 87th-minute goal, continued to hit back.
Extra time led to the road of a dramatic penalty shootout, a Kasper Schmeichel save and Maeda’s winning spot-kick sealed the deal to an elated packed-out Celtic end.
Watching on from the stands at Hampden was Celtic’s Women’s Head Coach Elena Sadiku and she reacted via her Instagram story.

At first, Sadiuku posted a video of the scenes just before kick-off – which was delayed – and the energetic mood from the Celtic end.
She included the caption ‘Let’s go Bhoys’, before capturing the moment Maeda scored his penalty and the scenes after.
Sadiuku then included the caption which is the simple truth.
‘Glasgow is green and white’, she wrote on her IG story.

The simple answer is the mighty Celtic. And what a way to bag trophy number 119!
It’s even better that it’s against Rangers themselves, who remain on 118, and you sense that the gap could widen this season alone.
Celtic are nine points clear of second-placed Aberdeen in the table and 11 clear of Rangers, and unless aliens invade the earth, you expect the title to be delivered again.
