Arguably Celtic’s most memorable goal in the 21st century was scored on May 27, 2017 at Hampden Park against Aberdeen.
In the 92nd minute of play with the score locked at 1-1, Tom Rogic picked the ball up from 40 yards out and proceeded to dribble his way towards the box.
After skipping past one and then two, he got into a shooting position and fired an effort past Joe Lewis to seal his place in Celtic history.
With that kick of the ball, the Hoops became the Invincible Treble winners as they went the full season unbeaten in every domestic competition.
Eight years on, Celtic once again face Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final this Saturday for a chance to secure another domestic Treble, although not an unbeaten one!
So where are the heroes from 2017 now? 67 Hail Hail take a look at what the starting XI and of course, substitute Rogic, are all up to nowadays.

GK – Craig Gordon
Gordon would spend another three years at Celtic after the cup final before departing on a free transfer to boyhood club Hearts.
The veteran stopper is still on the books at Tynecastle but is out of contract this summer.
RB – Mikael Lustig
Lustig left Celtic in 2019 at the end of his contract for Belgian club Gent and then wrapped his professional playing career with AIK in 2022.
He is currently a development coach for Swedish club Vasteras SK’s academy.
CB – Dedryck Boyata
Boyata was not a regular starter initially under Brendan Rodgers, but he worked his way into the team before the cup final.
Now 34, the Belgian defender is currently without a club having seen his contract at Club Brugge terminated at the start of January.
CB – Jozo Simunovic
Simunovic was about to leave Celtic at the start of the 2016/17 season for Torino, but the two clubs could not agree a transfer fee. He moved on from Paradise to HNK Gorica and retired in 2022.
The Croatian defender is now the head coach of Dinamo Zagreb U19, the club where he started his career. Before that, he took time out of the game to study sport management at a Croatian university.
LB – Kieran Tierney
We don’t need to tell you what Tierney is currently doing right now, and what his future holds!
Of course, Tierney has just played his final game for Arsenal and will return to Celtic this summer having signed a pre-contract agreement in January.
CM – Scott Brown (C)
The captain of the side and one of Celtic’s most decorated skippers of all-time, Broony won his third Scottish Cup title with the Hoops in 2017, with three more to follow.
Nowadays, Brown is the manager of Scottish Championship club Ayr United and admitted after losing in the Premiership play-offs to Partick Thistle, he would have to think about his future at Somerset Park.
CM – Callum McGregor
McGregor took the captain’s armband from Brown in 2021 when the latter left for Aberdeen. He remains the skipper of the club and now has 24 domestic major honours in his personal trophy cabinet.
CM – Stuart Armstrong
Armstrong was a shining light during Celtic’s Invincible season as he scored 17 goals in all competitions from midfield, which included the equaliser in the 2017 final.
He went on to star for Southampton in the Premier League before a short spell last year with Vancouver Whitecaps. Armstrong has just left Sheffield Wednesday, who finished mid-table in the EFL Championship last season.
RW – Patrick Roberts
Paddy Roberts was some player for Celtic and was adored by the fans for his trickery and skill. He spent more than two years on loan at Parkhead from Manchester City and played 43 times during the Invincible campaign.
Now 28, Roberts has been at Sunderland since 2022 and helped the club reach the EFL Championship play-off final this season, which will be played this weekend at Wembley against Sheffield United.
LW – Scott Sinclair
Sinclair will be remembered as the winger who scored for fun at Celtic. He scored 25 goals in 50 games throughout 2016/17 and subsequently won the PFA Scotland Player of the Year and SFWA Footballer of the Year awards.
Nowadays, the Englishman has just been released by Bristol Rovers after the club were relegated to League Two. He was the captain of the team for the 2024/25 season.
ST – Leigh Griffiths
Griffiths had scored 40 goals the previous season but wasn’t as prolific during Rodgers’ first campaign as Celtic boss, netting just 18 times.
The striker left the Hoops in 2021 on loan to Dundee and also played briefly for Falkirk. He then moved to Australia to play for Mandurah City, where he is currently a player-coach at the age of 34.
CM – Tom Rogic (sub)
Of course, we cannot leave out the match winner Tom Rogic, who scored one of the most memorable goals in Celtic history to secure the Invincible Treble.
Rogic, after nine years at the club, said an emotional goodbye to the Hoops in 2022 as he left for West Bromwich Albion. He retired from playing in October 2023 and currently enjoys a more private lifestyle with his wife and daughter.
