Celtic have found out their fixtures for the upcoming UEFA Champions League group stage campaign.

On Thursday, the Hoops were placed in to Group E of the competition alongside Feyenoord, Atletico Madrid and Lazio.

As is often the case with UEFA matters, fans have to do a fair bit of waiting while things are sorted out. But the fixtures have now finally been announced. They are as follows: (@DaleJohnsonESPN on Twitter)

Tuesday 19 September, 8pm — Feyenoord vs Celtic

Wednesday 4 October, 8pm — Celtic vs Lazio

Wednesday 25 October, 8pm — Celtic vs Atletico Madrid

Tuesday 7 November, 8pm — Atletico Madrid vs Celtic

Tuesday 28 November, 5:45pm — Lazio vs Celtic

Wednesday 13 December, 8pm — Celtic vs Feyenoord

Of course, all of these matches will be shown on television with TNT Sports the place to go. So if you can’t get to the matches, they’ll have you covered.

So the Hoops will begin their campaign in Rotterdam in just over a fortnight. We’ll then have back to back home games against Lazio and Atletico Madrid. These are all gonna be tasty match-ups.

With away games in Spain and Italy to follow, those first three fixtures will present us with a chance to get some points on the board.

The final game of the campaign being at home is a bonus. Feyenoord at home is no gimme but it’s a good fixture to have if we’re still playing for qualification of a Europa League place.

Another takeaway is that only one of our games — Lazio away — will kick-off in one of UEFA’s tea-time slots. Last year we had three of those matches.

Our overall verdict on qualification is that a fast start is required, with two wins from the first three games probably needed. That’s a tough ask but not completely out with the realms of possibility. Bring it on.
