Celtic’s international stars have made a return to pre-season training this afternoon, ahead of the Bhoys’ trip to Austria.
A small group of Ange Postecoglou’s squad made an early return to Lennoxtown at the beginning of last week, with players slowly beginning to integrate back into training.
The first batch of Celtic players included the likes of Joe Hart, Reo Hatate and James Forrest after they enjoyed their summer break without international football.
As the week progressed, Ange Postecoglou’s newest recruits also began training at Lennoxtown, with Alexandro Bernabei and Jota getting to work.
Off the back of an extremely busy season with the Hoops, many Celtic stars headed straight from domestic action to international.
As many as 13 players were involved for their national sides at senior and youth levels in the early weeks of June.
Due to their international involvement, those players were granted some extra time off to enjoy their break before returning in time for the hard work getting underway in Austria this week.
Celtic stars such as Callum McGregor, Kyogo Furuhashi and Cameron Carter-Vickers have all been pictured this afternoon back in action at the Bhoys’ training ground ahead of travelling for the pre-season camp later today.
The hard work and preparations start now for Ange Postecoglou’s squad
The first full week in July marks the point that the preparations for the 2022/23 campaign fully get underway.
Ange Postecoglou and his players face a series of friendlies across the next few weeks, travelling to Austria, Czech Republic and Poland before rounding things off at Celtic Park.
The squad will be looking to build upon the brilliant success of last season and will be keen to show what they can produce at Champions League level.
The next few weeks also mark the first full pre-season the majority of this group will have had to work with Postecoglou and his coaching staff, which could see his team go to a whole new level next year.
I personally cannot wait for this week’s matches to get underway!
