Celtic’s pre-season training preparations begin on Monday as the squad return from destinations around the world to meet new manager Brendan Rodgers and plot the defence of the treble.
The 2022/23 campaign ended less than a month ago on a glorious day at Hampden as the Bhoys secured a famous trio of domestic trophies under Ange Postecoglou. So much has changed since then that it’s almost surreal to think that just a few weeks have passed.
Squad members will be back hard at work after their holidays from next week, with international players expected to get a few days more rest before joining in with the fitness routines.
Coaches John Kennedy, Gavin Strachan, Harry Kewell and Stevie Woods remain in place to put the players through their paces under Rodgers’ watchful eye.
The team will only be back in Scotland for a few days, however, with Celtic soon flying off to the Algarve in Portugal for a six-day training camp. They’ll leave next weekend on that trip.
A brief return to Glasgow will follow before leaving for Japan on Monday 16th July for matches against Yokohama F.Marinos on 19th July and Gamba Osaka on 22nd July.
It’s unclear at this stage whether or not there will be a replacement game played in Seoul, South Korea on 26th July after English side Wolves pulled out of their entire Asian trip.

With Rodgers and the squad back in the building, we’ll likely start hearing much more from the camp with the club always providing a slate of pre-season content to keep fans in the loop.
No doubt the manager will be keen to add any transfer targets to the squad in short order, too. It’d be beneficial for anyone coming in to spend that bonding and training time with the squad in Portugal and Asia.
It’s been a hectic and incredibly newsworthy June at Celtic. The support has been glued to every update. But we’re really just at the start and there’s lots more excitement to look forward to this summer ahead of the big Scottish Premiership kick-off on Saturday 5th August at home to Ross County.
