Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has appeared in training for France under-21s, just days after Neil Lennon said he wasn’t travelling.
Edouard hasn’t appeared in either of Celtic’s last two matches against Ferencvaros or Motherwell respectively. This has been due to injury, with Lennon coming in for criticism for not featuring a striker in his place.
The manager stated after Sunday’s 3-0 success against the Steelmen that Edouard wouldn’t be going on international duty with the French under-21s due to his knock (Daily Record).

However, it appears that the Frenchman is finally getting his strength back and was indeed allowed to go. The France under-21 camp published a video of the squad training yesterday, with Edouard taking part in some muscle exercises. You can watch the video by clicking here.
France are gearing up for a huge double-header away to both Georgia and Azerbaijan in the UEFA Euro U-21 qualifiers.
A boost ahead of County
It’s clear that a decision was made in the end to allow Edouard to head off with his national team, and that can only be a positive for the club as a whole.
It’s absolutely vital we get him back and up to speed as soon as possible. Whether he plays any minutes would be a bonus, but just having him back in physical training is a plus.
The Frenchman will be itching to add more goals to what has been an incredible start to his international career at under-21 level. So far, Eddy has a jaw-dropping 11 goals in just six international appearances (Transfermarkt).

It truly is stunning stuff from Celtic’s hotshot. He’ll view these games as an opportunity to keep banging on France senior boss Didier Deschamps’ door for a first senior call-up.
It would be ideal to see him add to his tally of course, but from a Celtic perspective, it’s just important we get him back fitter than he was a week ago.
Anything more than that and it can be considered a bonus.
In other news, there’s been yet another update on Celtic-linked Aaron Hickey.
