Aaron Hickey's future could be decided today; Celtic not even mentioned in report
Celtic linked full-back Aaron Hickey’s future could finally be decided today, as he closes in on a move to Bologna.
The 18-year-old Hearts defender has been continually linked with a move to Parkhead, to rejoin the club where he spent some of his youth career.
But Hickey won’t be joining the Hoops, barring a late miracle, as he gets set to move to Serie A.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports on his website that “today could be the decisive day” for Hickey’s move to Bologna.
There are also mentions for AC Milan and Bayern Munich in the report, but not for ourselves.
Will Celtic rue not signing Hickey?
If, as expected, Hickey does join Bologna, it will be interesting to see what kind of impact he makes.
The youngster is far from the finished product, but he has bags of potential.
Many may feel that we’ve missed out by not bringing him in, but you can only come to the conclusion that the Celtic recruitment team weren’t really that interested.
We may feel, that in Greg Taylor, we already have our left-back for the future. The former Kilmarnock man may be dividing opinion at present, but he’s still only 22-years-old.
Time will only tell how history remembers this small chapter in Hickey and Celtic’s story. Will he go down alongside Andy Robertson and John McGinn as ones that got away. Or will we end up glad we didn’t take the plunge?
