Celtic’s Shane Duffy believes that he will perform better once he gets a run of games under his belt, the Scottish Sun reports.
The Hoops centre-back turned in a mixed display for Ireland against Bulgaria on Thursday night, being at fault for the Bulgarian goal but redeeming himself with an injury-time equaliser in the 1-1 draw.
Despite the goal, Duffy, who captained Ireland on the night, felt that he could have done better when it comes to Bozhidar Kraev’s goal.
“It was sloppy”
“I’ll probably take the blame for it myself it was sloppy defending and I didn’t get in quick enough” he said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

However, Duffy is confident that he will improve his performances once he gets fitter as the season goes on.
“I haven’t played a lot of football and in moments in was tough out there for me to get going. It’s disappointing but hopefully I can put it behind me and the more games I get I’ll become sharper and fitter” he concluded.
First game of football in two months
It was understandable that Duffy was a bit rusty. After all, it was his first competitive game of football since he played four minutes of Brighton’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle in July.

Duffy will only get fitter with games under his belt, and it will be interesting to see if Hoops boss Neil Lennon elects to give the player his Celtic debut when he returns from international duty.
Celtic have a trip to Ross County that weekend, and Duffy’s participation could depend on how fit he is after Ireland’s game against Finland on Sunday.
Should he get through that game unscathed, he might well make his Hoops debut the following weekend. That would be a real bonus for Celtic. Lennon will be eager to get Duffy up to speed and in a defensive partnership as soon as possible.
In other news, Celtic’s Tom Rogic may not be moving to Qatar after all.
