Celtic’s Tom Rogic may not be moving to Qatar after all, the Scottish Sun reports. The report claims that the mercurial Hoops midfielder is having ‘second thoughts’ about the £4m transfer, and didn’t travel to Qatar for talks this week.

The report goes on to claim that the player is unsure about a move to the Qatar league due to the fact that it has a low profile in the game, and could hold out for a move to a club in Europe.

It will be interesting to see what happens next regarding Rogic’s future. In a way, it is understandable that he is not sure about moving to a league where the standard of football might not be the best.

Hoops have excess number of midfielders

However, it has to be asked how much football will he play for Celtic going forward? The club has an excess of players in the middle of the park.

That number was recently increased with the arrival of David Turnbull. Therefore, you can understand why Celtic agreed a fee to move Rogic on.

However, it is the player’s prerogative if he wants to move to Qatar. At the moment it seems that he does not. Could Rogic get a move to Europe? Quite possibly. However, his injury record and mercurial style of play may not mean that he joins one of the very top clubs.

Some fans may be pleased with the situation

Some Celtic fans will no doubt be pleased if Rogic ends up staying at the club. He is a cult hero, and he has provided some very memorable moments in his time with the Hoops.

Indeed, Neil Lennon recently said, as reported by the Glasgow Times, that he would like to keep the player at the club if possible.

Only time will tell if that happens. Rogic’s future will be made clear sooner rather than later. However, it seems that a move to Qatar may not be on the horizon.

In other news, some Celtic fans gave their thoughts on Shane Duffy’s performance for Ireland.
