Fran Alonso’s Celtic are set for a huge final title weekend as they take on Hearts at the Excelsior Stadium this Sunday 21st May.

Celtic currently sit in third place in the table tied on 78 points with Rangers. Celtic’s 2-1 win against Hibs at the weekend meant that the league title will be decided this Sunday as a three-way battle ensues.

Glasgow City remain top of the tree on 80 points after their 2-1 win over Partick Thistle. Rangers are second in the league after they leap-frogged Celtic on goal difference after their 6-0 win over Hearts.

And in a treat to the fans of the three clubs, both fixtures will be shown live on the BBC.

The SWPL announced this afternoon the BBC will be showing Celtic’s game on BBC Sport Scotland with the tie between Glasgow City and Rangers being shown on BBC Alba.

Goals will be key heading into the weekend. Glasgow City are +93, Rangers +103 and Celtic +102 with only two points separating the top three.

Celtic will be looking to rack up the goal difference against Hearts. In the previous meetings between the two, Fran Alonso’s side have won 3-0 back in November, 2-1 in January and 6-0 back in April. So all the signs are good that goals could be the order of the day.

After the 1-0 loss to Rangers on the 4th of May, it looked like the title may be slipping out of our grasp. But Celtic blew the league race wide open after defeating Glasgow City 3-1 in front of a record breaking crowd at Celtic Park just last Thursday.

If Celtic can see off Hearts and Rangers draw with Glasgow City this coming Sunday the SWPL title will be heading to Celtic Park for the first time in our history.

Both games kick off at 4:10 pm.
