Arne Engels is enjoying a goal-scoring start to his early Celtic career.

The young Belgian midfielder is Celtic’s most expensive transfer purchase in the club’s history and it seemed like that price tag was weighing heavy on him towards the end of last year.

However, since the turn of the New Year, Arne Engels has been Celtic’s best player and was awarded his third man-of-the-match after the Bhoys beat Dundee United midweek.

But as Celtic comfortably beat Ross County yesterday, Engels was on top form again as he adjusts to life at Celtic Park with his fifth goal of the season.

But it was what the 21-year-old did after he netted at the second attempt to put Celtic 3-1 up over The Staggies that caught our eye at 67 Hail Hail.

Engels is clearly Celtic’s designated set-piece taker as the Belgian’s wicked delivery at corners and spot-kick return shows.

However, it took two attempts for the 21-year-old to tuck the ball away from 12 yards after Ross County’s keeper Jordan Amissah encroached on the Celtic midfielder’s first attempt.

But as Engels cooly slotted home the Hoops’ third goal, Celtic’s Unique Angle caught the youngster delivering a message to Amissah.

Clearly unhappy with something the Ross County goalkeeper did, Engels had the last laugh as he expertly tucked away Celtic’s penalty at the second attempt.

So why did the normally mild-mannered Engels react in such a way? The Celtic midfielder is generally as cool as a cucumber as Engels’ reaction to being struck by a coin inside Ibrox proved.

Sky Sports posted a clip on their socials and it does give an insight as to why the young Hoops midfielder delivered a ‘shushburger’ the the Dingwall stopper.

Amissah was clearly being mouthy to Engels just before the Celtic star took his penalty and he answered that in the best way possible.

Engels will undoubtedly get the nod to start in Celtic’s next fixture against Dundee on Tuesday night as the young man continues to mature and flourish in his role at the club.
