Celtic supporters have been blessed beyond belief for decades now.
Brendan Rodgers was a few spot kicks away from becoming the first man in Celtic’s rich and trophy-laden history to win three Trebles.
The talk of winning Trebles is mentioned quite a lot in recent times, and that’s because of how dominant Celtic have become.
You can’t stop that, but it still shouldn’t hide the crazy heights the club have reached, and how there should be a level of understanding if those feats aren’t met.
After Aberdeen denied Celtic the Treble on Saturday by winning the Scottish Cup final at Hampden, the reaction from the supporters was rather interesting.

Celtic’s ‘younger fans’ sent a clear message about the club’s dominance
There has been a generation of Celtic fans who have been used to nothing but trophy after trophy after trophy.
Yes, Scottish football has been dominated by two teams for the majority of its history, but winning titles in such numbers should never be this easy.
That’s why Mark Wilson wanted to send a ‘reminder’ to the ‘younger’ Celtic fans that it has ’never been so good for them’, and what happened at Hampden over the weekend is a prime example, as he told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.
“It defines your season, doesn’t it? Silverware,” said Wilson. “That’s why we are in the game for, to win it, at the end of the day.
“I would say, though, that if Celtic had still won on penalties, and the Treble. I still think you would have got the fans saying, ‘is this squad as strong as it should be?’ There have always been the detractors. Even when they won the League Cup against Rangers on penalties.
“Some of them just think they should turn up and win. But they can’t, and Saturday was a great exercise in showing that.
“It’s maybe a reminder for these younger Celtic fans, who think turning up at Hampden was just a procession to go back to Celtic Park, and see the trophy being paraded. It’s never been so good for them.
“But it was a timely reminder that you need to be right on the day and hope a lot of things go your way to win silverware.”
How many trophies have Celtic won since 2000?
When Martin O’Neill won the Treble with Celtic during the 2000/01 season, it was the first time in over 30 years that feat had been reached.
Yet now, from Rodgers to Ange Postecoglou, they are all coming in and producing Trebles like nobody’s business, including winning 14 out of the last 15 titles.
Scottish football has never seen such dominance, and the numbers, since the turn of the century, don’t lie.
- Celtic’s trophies since the 2000/01 season – 42
- Rangers – 18
- Aberdeen – 2
- St Johnstone – 2
- Hearts – 2
- Hibernian – 2
