It is an exciting week for all involved at Celtic as the club prepares to discover their opponents for the 2022/23 Champions Group stages.

Ange Postecoglou’s side earned their place in the world’s most prestigious club competition after lifting the Scottish Premiership title last campaign.

And this year will mark the Hoops’ long-awaited return to the tournament, having not taken part since the 2017/18 season.

With the season now fully underway for club’s across Europe, anticipation is beginning to build for this year’s Champions League.

The final few places in the season’s competition are set to be decided this week. But clubs, including Celtic, won’t have to wait long to find out who they are playing in the group stages, with the draw taking place this Thursday.

Over the years, these draws haven’t been too kind towards Celtic, having faced the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and PSG during our last involvements in the competition.

However, Ange Postecoglou will be hoping for a little more luck after already being put up against tough opposition in European action for Celtic, facing big sides such as Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis last campaign.

Despite our hope for a so-called ‘easier draw’, no matter which teams we are put up against, it is bound to be a challenging six games for the Hoops.

That isn’t something this squad are fearing, though, with captain Callum McGregor stating that he wants a shot at the competition’s current holders, Real Madrid.

That just goes to show the sort of mentality that Ange Postecooglou has built into his squad over the past 12 months, which should leave Celtic fans excited for our match-ups against some of the best teams in the world.

Postecoglou and his players will be given the opportunity to showcase the quality they possess as they attempt to pull off surprise results which could send shockwaves across Europe.

From a personal point of view, I am certainly excited for Thursday to see which three teams we will be against in this season’s Champions League group stage.

The draw taking place in Istanbul is set to get underway at 5 PM and will be streamed live for supporters of clubs from across Europe to see who they will be facing [UEFA].

In other news, Ange Postecoglou continues to send clear Celtic transfer message with latest update.
