Of all the people to ask about Celtic fan concerns about how the club is run, Charlie Adam would not be at the top of anyone’s list.
The former Rangers man has a track record of making odd comments about Celtic and their players and yet, Peter Martin at PLZ Soccer still chose to ask Adam about what’s going on at the club.
Celtic fans are deeply unhappy at the board’s overall handling of club affairs and are seeking answers and clarity on their long-term vision.
The summer transfer window was the last straw for many and that led to the first step of Celtic fan action last weekend at Kilmarnock.
And here, Adam shares how he finds it ‘very difficult’ to understand where the Celtic supporters are coming from.

Charlie Adam finds it ‘difficult to understand’ Celtic fan concerns
Celtic supporters held a meeting last Wednesday night which 67 Hail Hail attended where it was decided that an action group would be set up to take coordinated action against the board.
Another transfer window which saw the Celtic first-team significantly weakened, the club turned into a laughing stock and another Champions League exit to a small European team has exhausted a patient fan base.
And let’s not forget a ‘senior figure’ at Celtic briefing against Brendan Rodgers in the press. But yet, somehow, Adam can’t quite put his finger on why the Hoops support are unhappy.
Adam told PLZ Soccer, “Well, I think it’s difficult in terms of both clubs are in two different situations, aren’t they?
“One sort of supporters are trying to get the manager out and a CEO out, and the other ones are trying to get the most important person out in the football club in Dermot Desmond.
“Which is incredible to understand where this is coming from. The financial backing and what he’s done for Celtic since he bought the club from Fergus McCann, it’s been incredible. So I find it very difficult.”
Talk about completely missing the point. But it doesn’t stop there as Adam then goes on to list all the things Celtic fans are unhappy about but still doesn’t grasp why they are.
Charlie Adam completely misses the point despite noting Celtic issues
Celtic fans’ open letter to the club had seven questions that they wanted answers to ranging from the club’s transfer strategy to their relationship with the fans.
Which makes Adam’s next run of comments even more confusing as he continued, “Of course, there’s people that are taking the flak.
“Peter Lawwell left a few years ago and came back. Michael Nicholson is now in charge of the daily running of the football club.
“But to be nine points clear and still have that problem, I think it’s very hard. And again, you have a top class manager in Brendan Rodgers, who is coming to the end of his contract as well at the end of the season.
“So a lot of big issues going on at Celtic as well.”
I mean, look, Lawwell’s return to Celtic was met with a lot of resistance by many fans when it happened and the vast majority are deeply unhappy at how Nicholson equips himself as the CEO.
Being nine points clear and taking this stance with the Celtic board is the perfect time to do it because then no one can say it’s being done because the club’s domination is being threatened.
And finally, the piece de la resistance for Adam. Brendan Rodgers’ contract. The fact the Celtic boss is well into his final year and the board have still offer him a new deal has really irked the Hoops support.
And Adam still doesn’t understand why the Celtic supporters are unhappy? His finger is on the pulse, but nothing is registering.
