Charlie Mulgrew claims there’s a player at Celtic faster than Daizen Maeda ‘by a mile’

Celtic winger, Daizen Maeda, will go down in history as an enigma at the club.

And I mean that with the utmost respect. I love watching the Japanese international play for Celtic and would always have him in my starting lineup.

The reason why I say he is an enigma is because he is incredibly quick, is the hardest-working player in the team and gives defenders nightmares.

But for all that, he can be very frustrating in the opposition’s final third as well as looking like one of the best players in the world. He really is quite something.

Maeda is not the fastest player at Celtic

What Maeda is most revered for is his pace. I mean, Maeda is lightning quick. Faster than Kylian Mbappe. But, according to Charlie Mulgrew, he’s not the fastest player at Celtic.

Speaking about Nicolas Kuhn, Mulgrew said he’s heard that the German winger is faster than Maeda ‘by a mile’.

Mulgrew said [Open Goal], “He’s done alright. He’s picked up a wee bit recently. He must be doing something right in training if he’s getting as many starts.

“Because he’s got back in after a tough spell.

“He’s meant to be really quick. He’s meant to be like ridiculously quick. He’s like the quickest there by a mile.”

One of the things I notices about Kuhn against Aberdeen at Hampden was that he looked very quick. On a few occasions, he made lung-bursting runs that left me seriously impressed.

And against Hearts on Saturday, Kuhn showed flashes of that pace again.

But faster than Daizen Maeda? I would definitely need to see some data on that because the Japanese star has got to be one of the fastest players I have ever seen in my lifetime and I’ve watched Didier Agathe and Paul Elliot in the flesh!
