Charlie Mulgrew notices elite mindset in ‘brilliant’ Brendan Rodgers Celtic signing

If there is one thing I think many Celtic supporters will admit to is that they have possibly got it wrong about Adam Idah.

The on-loan Norwich striker arrived as a deadline day signing for Brendan Rodgers and, to be fair to the supporters, it was the manner of the signing that was underwhelming.

By that I mean we have millions of pounds sitting in the bank but had to resort to a loan signing of a player who is deemed third choice in a team currently playing in the English second tier. It doesn’t scream glamour.

However, Idah has done his talking on the pitch and what a signing he is turning out to be. With five goals to his name already, the Republic of Ireland international is heading toward cult-hero status with the Celtic fans.

Adam Idah is a brilliant temporary asset for Celtic

Adam Idah instantly showed his mentality after his double penalty conversion against Hibs this month. The Celtic fans have long been nervous about our spot kicks after high-profile misses by Luis Palma, Reo Hatate and David Turnbull this season.

However, Idah stepped up at Easter Road and now the rest, as they say, is history. And he has seriously impressed former Celtic hero, Charlie Mulgrew.

Aksed if Idah has proved his value to Celtic already this season, Mulgrew said, [BBC Radio Scotland], “Definitely. Two penalties, three from open play. So, brilliant so far. You can’t ask much more from him.

“He showed a great attitude after being dropped at the weekend, not playing and then coming on as a sub and really making an impact.

“So he deserves his start today and repays the manager with a great header.

“He wasn’t the glamour signing when he signed but he has really stepped up. Sometimes you find that at a club like Celtic.

“People just can’t handle the pressure and really thrive and playing at a club like this and so he’s shown that he can be a real asset.”

As long as Idah keeps firing in the goals I don’t think the Celtic fans will care one jot about his status at Norwich City.

In fact, if the 22-year-old continues the way he is going, you wouldn’t bet against Celtic attempting to make his mover permanent this summer.
