There aren’t many Celtic players who aren’t getting criticism at Celtic currently.
From the last year’s player of the year, to the captain, to the goalkeeper, to Brendan Rodgers himself, a frustrating start to the season has got fans asking questions.
Rodgers has said that the squad needs time after a scattergun transfer window left his squad in a weaker position than last season.
But that isn’t the only issue, as key performers from the previous campaign fail to hit the heights with their performances.
For one Celtic hero, one of the side’s main players is showing clear signs of a lack of trust in his Hoops teammates.
Chris Sutton says Celtic miss Greg Taylor
Kieran Tierney was seen as an instant fit for Rodgers’ side, given his pedigree and experience gained since his Arsenal move. But it hasn’t been that simple.
This is very much a new Celtic side which has lost some key players, and is having to adjust to different profiles in several positions.

For Chris Sutton, Greg Taylor is turning out to be a big miss for the Hoops – and as an indirect result, club captain Callum McGregor is struggling in the midfield.
In his column for the Daily Record, Sutton described McGregor as showing that he doesn’t trust his teammates.
He said: “If anything, Taylor’s absence is being felt more by the week. The middle of the park isn’t working.
“Benjamin Nygren has shown positive signs in Scotland but he wants too much time in Europe. You need to think and move quicker, take the ball on the move and pass it sharper.
“Hatate isn’t as effective as he has been and while people are pointing the finger at Callum McGregor, I actually have sympathy for him.
“He likes to take the ball on the turn and knit things together but he clearly doesn’t trust the players around him because they keep losing the ball and he’s the one who has to mop up. You can’t blame him for taking safer options.
“And then you get back to the serious lack of quality up front. It’s a concerning combination and on current viewing you can forget any notion of going deep in the Europa League.”
Do Celtic miss Greg Taylor?
There are no doubts about Tierney’s ability on his day, or the performances that he has put in at the highest level. There is, however, about his fitness.
Another question over Tierney’s game is whether his style of play suits the left-back role of this current Celtic team. Everyone remembers the unique role that Taylor had.
Then throw in Marcelo Saracchi, who has made a positive start to his Celtic career, and there are genuine questions about what Tierney’s involvement will look like.
There can surely be a compromise. It should not be a case of Tierney purely adapting to Celtic or vice-versa – it should be a bit of both.
