Michael Beale still seems to be taking hits from Celtic, even though he has been out of the Glasgow spotlight for a few months now.
Now manager of Sunderland, the 43-year-old found himself on the end of yet another derby defeat, this time the Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle United.
As always, Chris Sutton was on hand to remind Michael Beale of his record as a Rangers manager against Celtic, in the Glasgow derby.
The outspoken pundit stated on Twitter that Newcastle United’s 3-0 win over Sunderland in the FA Cup was ‘as one-sided derby game since most of Mick Beale’s recent meaningful derby games’.
There was a lot of talk from Steven Gerrard’s former assistant when he took to the Ibrox hotseat, but in the end, it resulted in nothing but defeat after defeat to Celtic, and then his eventual sacking.
Of course, they won that game towards the back end of last season, but by then, the title was done and dusted, and in typical Rangers style, they won a match that had nothing riding on it.
The proof of that was Celtic winning at Ibrox at the start of the season when Michael Beale was in charge, and once again, it has continued with the Bhoys securing a 2-1 win most recently, this time against Philippe Clement.
Newcastle United beat Sunderland
“Newcastle are so far ahead of Sunderland!!” said Sutton. “As one-sided a derby game since…most of Mick Beale’s recent meaningful derby games…”

Celtic post-Michael Beale’s exit
Brendan Rodgers’ side were sitting top of the Scottish Premiership table when Beale was sacked.
Many Rangers fans were hoping for an upward turn when Clement joined, they got that to a certain extent, unbeaten in his first 15 games in charge, up until he met Celtic.
Like Rodgers mentioned post-match against Rangers, they also seem to be coming, yet he has seen off yet another manager from Ibrox.
Even though Celtic suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time in a decade, destiny is still in the team’s hands when it comes to the title.
It has to be said, this past month has seen Celtic showcase serious quality, pick up the performances and now start to play the football many expected.
And if the worst form is behind the players, then there shouldn’t be any reason for the title not to be delivered again.
