Celtic will now be preparing for a difficult Champions League trip to Atalanta.
It has probably done Brendan Rodgers and his team the world of good that there have been around 20 odd days between their previous game in Europe.
Celtic conceded seven to Borussia Dortmund on October 1 and they were left feeling the same frustration, anger and disappointment when facing a top team in Europe’s elite competition.
Many have questioned if Rodgers will change his approach because the team simply can’t cope when facing a high-quality attack.
Many will get their answers when Celtic face Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, another away trip and that against the Europa League winners.
In some cases, the champions need a bit of help and key players available, which hasn’t been the case in recent times.
Chris Sutton ‘worry’ when Cameron Carter-Vickers doesn’t start for Celtic
The main cog of Celtic’s defensive wheel is Cameron Carter-Vickers, but once again, he has injury issues and it doesn’t help matters, especially in the really big games.
There is hope Carter-Vickers will be back from injury pretty soon because Chris Sutton says it’s a ‘worry’ when he isn’t playing, as he told Sky Sports Football (20/10/24 at 11:15 am).
The former striker stated that the Bhoys simply ‘aren’t the same defensively’ and that was displayed as Celtic let a two-goal lead slip against Aberdeen at the weekend.
“I think there are concerns mainly because Carter-Vickers, their rock and the best defender at the club, hasn’t been there for a while,” said Sutton.
“As I say every time Celtic take to the field and he isn’t playing, I worry. They aren’t the same defensively.”

Sutton’s thoughts on Auston Trusty filling in for Carter-Vickers
The man who has come in for Carter-Vickers is Celtic’s summer signing Auston Trusty after previous spells at Sheffield United and also being on Arsenal’s books.
Sutton was pretty blunt with the American’s start and how he isn’t coping, in regards to filling his fellow countryman’s boots.
But he did make it clear that patience is required with Trusty, as he added on Sky.
“Trusty has come in,” said Sutton. “Big shoes to fill. I am not sure, at this moment in time, he has filled them adequately. But he needs time. Liam Scales has been pretty good actually.”
