Celtic fans have certainly been provided with entertainment in recent weeks.

There might be very little of it on the pitch, as Celtic recorded a dramatic win over Kilmarnock on Sunday, but it has been full blast off the field of play, and Brendan Rodgers has been at the centre of it.

The Celtic manager hasn’t been shy to call out the ‘cowardly’ links from inside the club trying to bring him down, as there are clearly fractured relationships inside the boardroom.

You presume that it doesn’t bode well for Rodgers’ future in Glasgow, and Chris Sutton thinks it’s clear what is going to happen.

Will Brendan Rodgers sign a new Celtic contract?

Sutton has been vocal about Celtic’s off-field issues, and he thinks it’s going to result in Rodgers not renewing his contract.

In fact, you have to be given a new contract to sign in the first place, and that hasn’t happened yet, but either way, Sutton thinks this will be the Irishman’s final months in Celtic colours.

Following Celtic’s win over Killie, the legendary Hoops striker explained that the lack of agreement on the club’s ‘playing model’ is the key issue, as he told Sky Sports Football (14/09/25).

“What do I think will happen?” repeated Sutton. “Right now, I think Brendan, the way he has spoken, he will see it through until the end of the season, and probably go.

“If you are asking me definitively, that’s what I think will happen. Then, we will have to see if there are certain issues.

“He talked about the club model being fine, but the playing model not matching that and being in alignment. Until the playing model is in alignment, I suspect he won’t stay on.

“A club, as big as Celtic, should plan for every eventuality, anyway. That has been the frustration that Celtic haven’t got the transfers in, and replaced the players.

“Daizen Maeda wanted away in February. And, in six months, they haven’t been able to find an adequate replacement.”

Rodgers’ record during his second spell as Celtic manager

Two full seasons. Four trophies, and missing out on a Treble by a kick of a football. Rodgers is proving his dominance again.

That’s 11 trophies in total won by the 52-year-old, including a league title in every season he has managed the Bhoys, and the signs suggest that it will happen again this term.

There might be a lot more outside noise during Rodgers’ second spell as manager, but he has continued to deliver the trophies.
