Chris Sutton warns Rangers it’s ’not just Celtic’ they need to worry about now

In a dramatic weekend of football, Celtic dropped points at home against Aberdeen and Rangers tasted their second defeat of the season at Kilmarnock.

Celtic now sit six points ahead of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and 14 goals better off after the Ibrox club blew their chance to close the gap at Rugby Park.

Sutton was the first to react to the Rangers defeat yesterday and addressed the fact that the gap at the top of the league has ‘widened’.

And that has led to Chris Sutton firing a warning to Rangers with a stark reminder that they need to forget about Celtic and worry about another team in the league.

Sutton tells Rangers it’s Aberdeen and not Celtic they should worry about

The defeat to Kilmarnock not only puts Rangers six points behind Celtic but also six adrift of Jimmy Thelin’s team which is why Sutton urges the Ibrox club to concentrate on what’s directly in front of them.

Sutton told BBC 606, “Do you know what? I think it’s a difficult one, Rob, because you know, because the decision was made at the start of the season for Philippe Clement to go again, sign a new contract and bring his own players in.

“I do think you can’t keep changing. It’s difficult to do that. But I understand that Rangers fans think it’s all about winning.

“And of course it is. And they see their team getting further and further behind Celtic. And it’s not just Celtic now.

“It’s Aberdeen. Absolutely.”

Rangers need to forget about Celtic and look over their shoulders

In truth, when you look at the top of the league table, Rangers have bigger concerns than trying to catch Celtic and Aberdeen.

United are just one point behind Rangers in fourth place and The Steelmen are just three points adrift of the Ibrox club.

If they are not careful, Philippe Clement could well find himself sitting behind Dundee United and Motherwell if results don’t go their way.

With the Ibrox club scheduled to face Motherwell and Dundee United in November, if they are not careful, even second place in the Scottish Premiership could be out of reach if they cannot find it in themselves to beat both teams.
