Celtic left it late to rescue a potential two dropped against Ross County to end what was a miserable week for the current Scottish Premiership champions on a high.
Brendan Rodgers’ side beat County 2-1 after Ronan Hale’s first-half penalty was cancelled out by a 76th-minute Alistair Johnston equaliser only for Nicolas Kuhn to score late on to take all three points back to Glasgow for Celtic.
In a game where Celtic huffed and puffed it looked like the match was going to peter out into a draw for Rodgers’ side but the Hoops managed to dig in to record a crucial away win with Rangers and Aberdeen still to play.
It was a frustrating watch for the travelling Celtic support and former Hoops hero, Chris Sutton, has shared what he thought about the performance where the Bhoys looked devoid of ideas for much of the game.
Kris Boyd ‘didn’t like’ Nicolas Kuhn’s Celtic celebration
In a breathtaking finale to the game, Sutton took to social media channel X to share his thoughts on the game and highlighted Kris Boyd’s strange thoughts on how Nicolas Kuhn’s Celtic celebration.
Sutton said, “Celtic huffed and puffed and finally got there. The subs changed the game.
“McCowan excellent, Kyogo’s movement fantastic, Forrest the old stager looked sharp. Kuhn wonderful finish. Kris Boyd didn’t like him celebrating the winner… dear me.”
Clearly Boyd thought Kuhn should have received a second yellow after celebrating with the travelling Celtic support but the German winger stayed on the park to celebrate with the players and fans again at full time.
Ross County match stats tell the story of a frustrating day for Celtic
With over 82% of possession, Celtic were in control for much of the match but struggled to break down a resilient Ross County side as the stats show how much Don Cowie’s team frustrated Celtic.
The Staggies had five shots with only two on target which included the converted penalty whereas Rodgers’ team had 23 shots on Ross County’s goal with just six on target, 11 off target and County goalkeeper, Ross Laidlaw, making four saves.

Celtic had nine corners to Ross County’s one but failed to make any of them count until Johnston popped up at the back post to convert a wayward Callum McGregor shot late in the second half.
However, it was goalscorer Johnston who turned goal creator after his superb through ball set Kuhn free and the German winger slotted home nicely to put Celtic 2-1 up and keep their 100% Scottish Premiership record intact.
In a week where Celtic was still hurting from the Champions League defeat in Dortmund, Brendan Rodgers now heads into the international break on a high and it is now up to Aberdeen and Rangers to show their bottle in their respective games later on today.
