It seems like the Carl Starfelt transfer out of the club is one that is going to be concluded over the course of the next few days.
With Celta Vigo being heavily tipped to land the Swedish international, Brendan Rodgers is clearly resigned to losing one of his top defenders this summer.
But it seems that former Celtic hero, Chris Sutton, believes the club should do more to try and keep a hold of Starfelt and has issued caution on allowing the transfer to happen so quickly.

Sutton said on Twitter, “I don’t think Celtic should be in a rush to get Starfelt out the door… CCV and Nawrocki may be first choice but if anything happens to them….”
Celtic’s hands are tied on Carl Starfelt’s exit
I get what Sutton is saying but if Starfelt is set on leaving Celtic, what can the club do? He has given us two great years of service and maybe he feels it’s time to move on.
Celtic have learned the hard way about keeping players that have an eye on the exit door. During the COVID season, it was well known that players like Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer, Olivier Ntcham and Ryan Christie all had designs on leaving prior to the club’s pursuit of ten in a row.

But we decided to try and get one more season out of them and we all know how that panned out. The minute a player wants to go, they should be allowed to do so.
Plus, as I stated earlier, as one door closes, another door of opportunity will open for others. There are three players who could see this as a chance to stake their claim in the Celtic squad.
Starfelt will go with our blessings. The majority of the Celtic fans will be grateful for his service over the last two years and will wish him well.
