The Ange Postecoglou saga at Spurs has held the interest of Celtic supporters over the last couple of weeks.

The former Celtic manager was a tremendous success in his first season at Spurs but despite Postecoglou winning the Europa League this season, Daniel Levy still decided to remove him from his position.

Where Postecoglou goes from here is anyone’s guess but the former Celtic boss has been tipped to lift more silverware wherever he ends up.

But now that Spurs appear ready to appoint Thomas Frank, Chris Sutton has fired a warning to the Brentford boss after watching the Celtic hero get dismissed despite winning the Premier League club’s first-ever European trophy.

Celtic hero Chris Sutton does not mince his words with Spurs warning for Thomas Frank

Sutton has been very vocal on Tottenham’s sacking of Ange Postecoglou. The former Celtic striker criticised Tottenham for their decision and now, he has issued a warning to Thomas Frank as he stands on the brink of being appointed as Postecoglou’s successor.

Sutton told the BBC, “That is how things work at the club that Frank is walking into. Thomas Frank has done a brilliant job at Brentford, but this is a whole different kettle of fish.

“Because of the expectation at Tottenham, Frank won’t get time to get his feet under the table. He will be under pressure from the off.

“Postecoglou has just won them their first major European trophy for 41 years and has gone. So already you have to wonder what does Frank need to do this season to keep his job?

“The aim for Frank will be to keep them in the Champions League, and whether that is by making the top four or five, that is not going to be easy.

“That is a big ask for this squad, to compete on both fronts. We know this Tottenham team is better than 17th place, because they finished fifth in Postecoglou’s first year, but other Premier League teams have improved since then.”

Thomas Frank’s record at Brentford vs Ange Postecoglou at Spurs and Celtic

Frank is one of the most highly rated managers in the Premier League for the job he has done at Brentford.

A 10th-place finish in England’s top tier with such a small club is no mean feat. But how does his record stack up against Postecoglou’s at Spurs and Celtic?

The resources Frank has had at Brentford will be nowhere near what will be afforded to him at Spurs.

And as other managers have found out before them, that job is a poisoned chalice, and could swallow the Bees’ boss up as well.
