Celtic have been tipped to bring in more new faces this summer as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.

In fact, the Celtic boss has admitted this week that he is aiming to bring in extra bodies to help support the team and with the transfer window heading into the last month, Rodgers has four weeks to get some deals done.

Whilst no one knows who the Celtic gaffer is targeting or where he is looking to strengthen next, former Celtic hero, Chris Sutton has said that the goalkeeping one is one that the Celtic boss may well be best leaving alone.

Sutton said [Daily Record], “I would replace any Celtic player if you can get a better one in. That’s what Brendan will be thinking.

“But the Joe Hart thing has grown arms and legs over pre-season. Joe has been a good goalkeeper for Celtic.

“In all honesty, I wasn’t sure about him when he came in. But he’s been a really important part of Celtic’s success and I wouldn’t be in a hurry to get him out the door unless they get someone in who is better.

“There’s been talk about Dominik Livakovic but the fact it hasn’t happened yet would lead me to believe it’s probably not going to happen. Rangers have done a similar thing, bringing in Jack Butland, who will have a strong temperament and be calm.

“You need that if you play for Celtic or Rangers, so I wouldn’t be in a hurry to get Joe Hart out the door. Brendan let Schmeichel go at Leicester and brought in Ward, who is good with his feet but Leicester ended up getting relegated.”

Hart has been excellent for Celtic over the last two seasons. The ex-England Number 1 brought stability to the back after the disastrous signing of Vasilis Barkas.

Yes, Hart does have his weaknesses but he has proven time and again just how important he is to Celtic with crucial saves in Europe as well as on the domestic front.

Hart’s contract with Celtic runs out at the end of next season. Whether the club will offer an extension or not is up for debate. He will need to be replaced at one point, but not this season it seems.
