Premiership title number 55 was put on the table by Celtic over the weekend.
The players took their time because the 2024/25 crown should have been delivered a long time ago, but Celtic kept shooting themselves in the foot by dropping points.
But the main trophy, once again, is now here, and Celtic’s dominance in Scotland continues because that’s now 14 out of the last 15 titles for Scotland’s most successful club.
Brendan Rodgers has contributed to four of those over two spells, and with the Irishman set to continue next season, don’t be surprised if he adds another to the cabinet.
The thing here is that, not just this season, but for a very long time now, nobody is getting near to Celtic, as the so-called nearest challengers Rangers continue to crumble.
For those on the outside, it might seem tiring, but it’s not for those repping the green and white colours.

Never getting tired of Celtic’s dominance
As Rodgers said himself, it’s not Celtic’s fault that they are so far ahead; you can only beat what is in front of you.
When Peter Grant was taking to the field as a player, he witnessed Rangers win nine in a row, so he understands the pain of the other side.
That’s why Grant wanted to make it clear that he simply isn’t tired of Celtic’s continued success, as he told Premier Sports.
“Absolutely not,” responded Grant on whether he is tired of Celtic’s dominance. “Listen, I went through a difficult period when you never won a lot of titles. Rangers won nine in my period there, so I know what it’s like. I know how difficult it is to do that.
“I genuinely believe we were playing against better teams in the league as well. The Aberdeen’s and Hearts were strong. The Hibs’ and all that were all good sides, so it was really difficult for us. Rangers were an excellent side, at that particular time.
“I know how heartbreaking that was for us, so I know, every time you win it, you put it to bed and you are desperate to do it again, because you have to be first up here. That is it. There is no such thing as second place. That is nowhere. That is a tragedy if you end in second place.
“That’s the beauty of playing for Celtic or Rangers. That is what you are judged on. Winning. Nothing else.”
Celtic’s trophy dominance since 2008
You could even go further back, but as Celtic clinched title number 14 from the last 15 seasons, let’s take a look at how many trophies have been delivered by the champions since 2008.
In recent times, the likes of St Johnstone have enjoyed domestic success, even winning the double under Callum Davidson’s stewardship, as well as Hibernian earning glory.
But it’s Celtic who wipe the floor with everybody.
- Premiership titles since 2008 – 14
- League Cups – Nine
- Scottish Cup – Eight
