Stephen Craigan shutsdown Brendan Rodgers’ ‘sceptics’ after Celtic’s Premiership title win

Normal service has resumed for Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.

You might as well get a checklist out when it comes to Rodgers’ time in Scotland and how he continually ticks off the same things from his list.

Rodgers has won the Premiership title in every season he has been in charge, seen off more Rangers managers than he has had defeats in the Glasgow derby, and is pushing and winning Trebles like he is buying sweets from the shop.

But when Ange Postecoglou left Celtic to join Tottenham during the summer of 2023, not many expected the Irishman to return.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if some were wary of the 52-year-old coming back, not because he isn’t good enough, but because of how he left for Leicester City in 2019.

But Stephen Craigan had a message for those doubters.

Stephen Craigan says Brendan Rodgers has proven doubters wrong after Celtic title win

Rodgers has played a huge part in Celtic becoming Scotland’s most successful club, and the signs suggest that he isn’t stopping.

Craigan told BBC Sport that there were ‘a lot of sceptics’ when the former Liverpool boss returned to Glasgow.

But, fast forward to the present, and with another Premiership title in the bag, Craigan thinks that the man in Celtic’s dugout has won over the fans again.

“There were a lot of sceptics when Rodgers came back to Celtic, because of the way he left,” stated Craigan.

“The only way he’d win fans over was by winning games with flair, winning trophies, making some inroads in the Champions League. He’s managed to do that.”

Rodgers’ first and second spell comparison at Celtic

Just like that first spell, Rodgers is once again on for a Treble, and he is putting these in the bag like it’s nobody’s business.

It’s amazing how easy he has made it look because, as crazy as it sounds, now when the season starts, everyone is expecting the team to win the Treble.

Rodgers deserves massive credit for the seismic shift in mindset, and beat Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final in May, then he can add another to his bag.
