Celtic are Scotland’s most successful club.

With 120 major honours, Celtic’s trophy count increases year on year as Rangers more often than not languish in the doldrums.

Brendan Rodgers is one of Celtic’s most successful managers with 11 pieces of silverware to his name with only Jock Stein and Willie Maley boasting more titles.

And as Celtic lifted four out of six trophies in the last two seasons under Rodgers, former Rangers defender Colin Hendry has shared how the Ibrox club feel watching their greatest rivals continue to be the top club in Scotland.

Russell Martin told Rangers are ‘fed up’ watching Celtic’s dominance

Russell Martin is the man Rangers appointed to end Celtic’s incredible run of success in Scotland.

Martin has suffered at the hands of Celtic as a Rangers player so knows only too well how tough a task it will be to catch the Parkhead club.

However, Hendry sounds downbeat as he looks at the scale of the job the new Rangers boss has ahead of him as he tells Martin he needs to ‘deliver’ against Celtic.

Hendry told The Sunday Post, “My view is that it is a good appointment and I wish him all the very best.

“It is not going to be easy for him, that’s for sure. It’s a massive ask to go to Rangers and turn them into title winners. But that’s what he has signed up for.

“He knows the level of expectation and he knows that he will need to deliver.

“Rangers is a massive football club and they want success. They are fed up seeing Celtic being so dominant.

“Russell is the man they have put their trust in to stop that from happening in the new season and I hope he gets off to a good start.

“The Champions League tie against Panathinaikos will be important, of course it is.

“But the true marker is what the club does in the Premiership. Winning the league is what truly matters.”

Every trophy Celtic has won since 2000

Celtic have been utterly dominant in Scotland since the Martin O’Neill era kicked off in 2000.

The Northern Irishman’s appointment was the springboard to the success Celtic fans enjoy to this day so here is a comprehensive list of all the major honours the Parkhead club have lifted since the turn of the century.

No other club has got close to Celtic and listening to Hendry, it sounds that deep down, he knows Martin’s Rangers won’t either.
