Benjamin Nygren is probably Celtic’s highest-profile signing of the summer transfer window.

After weeks of transfer speculation, Nygren joined Celtic in a deal worth around £1.28m which left Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers over the moon.

The winger made his Celtic debut against Estrela da Amadora as the Hoops embarked on their summer pre-season camp in Portugal.

And during the defeat, Celtic captain Callum McGregor can be clearly heard telling Nygren and Adam Idah what he thought about their part in the loss to the Portuguese minnows.

Callum McGregor delighted with Benjamin Nygren & Idah despite Celtic’s defeat to Estrela

Celtic lost 3-2 to Estrela despite taking an early lead through a well-taken Reo Hatate opener in the seventh minute.

But it was at Adam Idah’s goal where McGregor let Nygren and the Irishman know what he thought of their combination play.

After the goal Celtic’s Unique Angle catches McGregor telling Nygren and Idah, “Good pass. What a run mate. Some pass. Superb. Well done! Nice combination of passes!”

Benjamin Nygren shows Celtic potential already

Benjamin Nygren is clearly a talented winger and comes to Celtic highly recommended by friend of the site, Thoke Theilade.

Theilade described Nygren as a ‘high-class striker’ who is a ‘great finisher’.

But Celtic fans saw the other side to the Swede in his part in Idah’s goal. Vision, awareness and the ability to pick out Idah are all positives that the Hoops support will be hoping to see more of heading into the next summer friendly against Sporting Lisbon in two days’ time.
