‘Completely convinced’ – Celtic told January target ‘will be disappointed’ if he’s not sold this summer

Celtic will no doubt be making plans to strengthen the squad this summer.

Brendan Rodgers has a lot to think about after watching his Celtic team lose to Rangers for the second Glasgow Derby in a row.

The Celtic manager was hit by a triple injury issue to Callum McGregor, Auston Trusty and Liam Scales which exposed the lack of Hoops’ first-team depth.

Rodgers had to call on some of the Celtic Academy youngsters to bulk up his derby matchday bench which is a scenario the Parkhead boss would like to avoid in the future.

But now, it seems that a long-term transfer target could become available after Danish pundit Peter Sorensen said that Mathias Kvistgaarden ‘will be sold’ this summer.

Celtic target Mathias Kvistgaarden ‘will be sold’ this summer

Celtic’s Kvistgaarden links have been ongoing for almost two years now and after a January bid by Rodgers was knocked back it seemed that a move to the Hoops was dead and buried.

Not according to Sorensen who believes that the young Danish attacker will leave Brondby in the summer.

Sorensen told Viaplay via the Daily Record, “I am almost certain that Kvistgaarden will be sold this summer. He has been a sought-after player and had to accept that the club wanted to exploit his talent even further.

“He has also been one of the best for Brondby this season. Therefore, I am completely convinced that he will be disappointed if he is not sold.”

Mathias Kvistgaarden’s blistering season as Celtic wait in the wings

Kvistgaarden has had a superb season for Brondby as the young Denmark U21 international continues to wow the fans.

The 22-year-old is proving to be the hottest property in Denmark and after 26 appearances his goals and assists have kept Brondby in the hunt for the European qualification places in the Superliga.

Kvistgaarden hasn’t scored for Brondby since his goal in the 4-1 win over Viborg FF in February.

But there is no doubt that the 22-year-old is a quality player and Celtic could have a fight on their hands to land the young winger.
