Celtic have been linked with Mathias Kvistgaarden for well over a year now.
Kvistgaarden’s name always seems to crop up for Celtic ever since Brendan Rodgers returned to the club in the summer of 2023.
The Celtic manager is still looking to add his second January addition of the window after securing the services of Hoops hero Jota from Rennes last week.
However, it seems that Celtic’s link with the Brondby striker seems to be dead, for January at least, after the Swedish club posted photos from their training camp in Portugal today.
Mathias Kvistgaarden looks like he won’t be joining Celtic on transfer deadline day
Brondby are currently on their winter break and with speculation surrounding Kvistgaarden to Celtic reaching almost fever pitch, a post shared on social media will likely end January rumours.
Brondby posted on X, “Today’s training is underway.”
Kvistgaarden can be seen in the picture with his back to the cameraman and the post effectively shuts down any hope that Celtic fans may have had in capturing the young Danish forward.
What’s been said about Mathias Kistgaarden joining Celtic
It was said that Celtic talks to sign Kvistgaarden were in ‘full swing’ on the final day of January.
Former Rangers man, Craig Moore tipped the young Dane to join Celtic alongside Jota as he was talked about making the move to Glasgow.
Kvistgaarden himself addressed the Celtic rumours as he said, “In the end, as a player, I can’t really do anything except do the best I possibly can – whether it’s for one place or another. That’s the way it is.”
“Of course, there is a lot you can read about and listen to, but I try to ignore it as much as possible and just concentrate on training here every day.”
For now, at least, it seems the Kvistgaarden talk to Celtic is over but on the upside, the summer transfer window opens up in less than three month’s time.
