Read MoreConor Hazard's unclear Celtic contract situation
It’s unclear exactly how long Conor Hazard has left on his Celtic contract.
The goalkeeper hasn’t played a single minute of action since Ange Postecoglou joined the club at the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
His last Celtic appearance arrived in a 0-0 draw with Livingston in January 2021. Since then Hazard has spent time out on loan from Celtic with Finnish champions HJK.
He’s currently part of the Northern Ireland setup preparing for a double header against San Marino and Finland.
But it very much seems like his days at Celtic are numbered, although there is some dubiety over exactly when his deal runs out.
We know that Hazard signed a two-year extension in March 2021 (Celtic website), tying him to the club until at least this summer.
There is no apparent news of any further extensions since, although some outlets including the Glasgow Times have recently claimed that his deal runs until 2024.
Celtic have been known to add year extensions to players’ contracts when they move out on loan. That’s what they did with Mikey Johnston when he moved to Vitoria de Guimaraes in the summer.
There was no mention of a similar arrangement in the club’s release following Hazard’s move to HJK.
So who knows if it’s this summer of next when Hazard’s deal runs out.
It may all be irrelevant. It’s probably best for both parties if he moves on for more regular football elsewhere.
