It looks as though Wilfried Nancy is going to be Celtic’s next manager.

A lot still needs to happen, including Celtic officially approaching Columbus Crew to obtain his services, but the point is that the Frenchman seems to be the top target.

Nancy has only had two coaching jobs. After replacing Thierry Henry at CF Montréal, he took the main gig at Crew in 2022, including winning the MLS Cup in 2023.

The Celtic Park faithful want to know what the man who could replace Brendan Rodgers is all about, including his style of play, and Craig Moore shared an insight.

Celtic manager target Wilfried Nancy compared to Ange Postecoglou

It could be argued that Ange Postecoglou played the most entertaining brand of football any Celtic manager has produced in the modern era.

Therefore, it will be music to the ears of fans that Nancy’s style of play is ‘very similar’ to Postecoglou’s, according to former Australia defender Moore, as he told Go Radio.

“In terms of Nancy, I think the Celtic players will be looking at it going, ‘by the way, I wouldn’t mind a slice of that,’ because it’s entertaining,” said Moore.

“Again, it’s heavily based on possession, which is suitable because it’s what Celtic do here in Scotland anyway. Getting bodies forward. Creating chances.

“So, whether you are a defender, midfielder or a striker, it’s a brand that you go, ‘that’s exciting.’ It’s good to sometimes look further afield. The MLS is a good league. Is it a top-five league in the world? No, it’s not. It’s a good sort of league.

“I think sometimes here in the UK we can be a little bit snobbish to the outside world. The big, bad world that is out there – His brand of football is very similar to Ange Postecoglou’s. It’s very, very similar.”

Celtic’s goals under Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers

Looking back over Rodgers’ first spell in Glasgow, and when Postecoglou was in charge. Both won the Treble, and their teams scored goals for fun.

But looking at just the Premiership campaigns as a whole, this is how many goals Celtic scored each season under Rodgers and Postecoglou.
