Wilfried Nancy’s name just won’t go away.
Even though the MLS-based coach is an unknown coach amongst the Celtic fans, his name has been doing the rounds quite a bit, and you sense there is no smoke without fire.
There is a mixed reaction to Nancy possibly becoming Celtic’s next manager, and one thing is for sure: the fanbase isn’t in agreement.
But Simon Donnelly thinks there is one man who everyone would happily welcome back to Glasgow with open arms.

Celtic fans would be ‘all in’ with Ange Postecoglou
Ange Postecoglou is a legend at Celtic, and one of the most popular men to have walked through the Parkhead doors since the turn of the century.
Amid these rumours around Nancy, amongst other linked coaches, Donnelly stated that Postecoglou would be the man who fans would be ‘all in’ for, and that’s ‘not a disrespect’ to the other names linked to the job, as he told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.
“I am like everybody else, looking, and there are names every day coming to the fore,” said Donnelly. “There was a little clip, actually, on social media of Ange, I think he was addressing the Spurs team. I think it was after the semi-final (of their Europa League run). I can’t remember.
“I thought, somebody like him coming back, the fans would be all in with that. His performances with Celtic before.
“It’s not being disrespectful to the other guys. If you rewind before Postecoglou, we were probably questioning who he was before he came to Celtic. That’s not a disrespect to any of the other names.
“I think it’s natural. When Brendan was coming back, I felt that as well. It’s somebody who has been over the ground at Celtic. He was successful at Celtic. I used the term with Brendan at the time; it was safe hands. He’s somebody I wouldn’t think twice about.”
Postecoglou returning to the Premier League?
Life has been rather interesting for Celtic’s Treble-winning coach following his exit and call to join Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.
Even though Postecoglou won the Europa League with Spurs last season – their first trophy in nearly two decades and first European honour since the 1980s – he was sacked by Daniel Levy.
Things got worse when Postecoglou only lasted 39 days at Nottingham Forest, but despite that, Roger Hannah can see him getting another Premier League gig.
Donnelly: “If there was any sign that Ange Postecoglou had a chance to come back, I think we could have known about it by now.”
Roger Hannah: “He (Postecoglou) very possibly could (get another Premier League job). Rob Edwards, who took Luton down twice, is back in at Wolves via Middlesbrough, so he has a Premier League job.
“So, yeah, I would say Ange could probably think of himself getting back into the Premier League.”
