Craig Moore’s strange verdict of Celtic’s performance in the hammering of Rangers

Celtic’s win over Rangers was about a complete performance from Brendan Rodgers’ side that the fans will see in a Glasgow Derby.

Last season, all the derbies were tightly contested affairs with just a single goal separating both Celtic and Rangers.

But at Celtic Park, the opening ten minutes aside, Celtic were absolutely dominant with a number of players stepping up to the plate.

So when Craig Moore delivered his verdict on the game and, in particular, Celtic’s performance, it will raise eyebrows amongst the Ibrox support.

Moore: No Celtic player stood out vs Rangers

Speaking immediately after the full-time whistle blew at Celtic Park, former Rangers defender, Moore, delivered a strange verdict on how he thought Brendan Rodgers’ team performed in the dominant win over Rangers.

Moore told The Go Radio Football Show, “I just think it’s showing the gap at this moment in time between Rangers and Celtic.

“Again, Celtic probably didn’t have a standout performer today, but I think across the board they were good.

“Rangers huffed and puffed for the first five or ten minutes of the first half, a little bit of a spell, but just nowhere near good enough.

“For the supporters, I really feel for the supporters because as we said, the window is closed now.

“So this is a team that they’ve got to try and support and hope can improve their performances.”

Celtic’s stand-out performers against Rangers

I’m sure, on reflection, Moore will realise how far off the mark he is with those comments because Celtic had at least five players who were outstanding on the day.

Paulo Bernardo was excellent in the heart of the Celtic midfield and filled in admirably for the departed Matt O’Riley.

Kasper Schmeichel turned up and made some good saves at crucial times for Celtic and Kyogo Furuhashi was a constant thorn in Rangers’ side all day.

Daizen Maeda continued to give James Tavernier nightmares as the Celtic winger gave the Rangers captain the slip again to score against the Ibrox club.

Nicolas Kuhn and Alistair Johnston were excellent on the right-hand side of Celtic’s flank and Callum McGregor’s goal epitomised the Hoops captain’s solid performance against Rangers once again.

And I haven’t even mentioned Reo Hatate and Liam Scales who were both solid as well so I suppose apart from that, Moore is correct, there really wasn’t a Celtic stand-out in the win against his old club.
