Daizen Maeda has broken his silence on the red card he was shown for Celtic vs Young Boys last night.
The Japanese international was sent off for the Hoops in their Champions League clash at Parkhead for kicking out at Mohamed Ali Camara late on.
The YB defender had clattered into Maeda before the Celtic man had a rush of blood to the head and was brandished the red despite referee Rohit Saggi initially showing a yellow card.
VAR intervened and urged the whistler to take a second look at the incident during Celts’ 1-0 win over their foes in the crunch tie.
And Maeda had his head down as he trudged off the pitch with around two minutes of normal time to go.

Maeda’s red card vs Young Boys had pundits divided
Pundits were torn on the issue with one on Sky Sports claiming it was a “soft” sending off.
Mark Wilson was adamant that the player got in a ‘tangle’ albeit it was always likely to be overturned from a booking.
James McFadden, meanwhile, insisted Maeda had no chance of being let off with the kick as he claims “serious foul play” could now see the 27-year-old miss Celtic’s playoff knockout as well as their matchday eight clash with Aston Villa down south.
Manager Brendan Rodgers also insisted that the club would miss their star who has hit 15 goals and provided six assists so far this term in his most prolific Parkhead campaign yet.
And now the player himself has spoken on social media about the red card and his regrets of making the tackle in the first place.
Daizen apologises to Celtic support after red card
“Thank you for your support,” Maeda tweeted at full-time as he gathered his thoughts.
“I’m really sorry for causing trouble to the team in such a wonderful atmosphere. I’ll continue to do my best for the team.
“Congratulations to all the Celtic fans and supporters.”
Maeda had a decent game up until that point and teed up Kyogo for one of his offside goals which had Celtic fans nervy during the action.
