Young Celtic defender, Dane Murray has taken to Instagram today to tell of his recent surgery success. Murray returned from injury back in April after a 12-month layoff.
Murray picked up a serious injury back in April 2022 and made his return to action against Rangers in a 3-1 away win at Ibrox in the Lowland League on the 3rd of April this year. He only made one more appearance before the season ended in the 2-1 win over East Stirling.
However, it seems that Murray still needed to have surgery and this afternoon he posted on Instagram to tell us that the operation was a success and that he is now on the road to recovery from what looks like knee surgery.
Labelled as an ‘exciting young defender’ by Celtic after signing his first professional contract in 2019, Murray was been training in and around the first team in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge. He is under contract until the end of the 2024 season.

Necessity meant that Murray played in Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers against FC Midtjylland and he equipped himself well even though we eventually got knocked out 3-2 in aggregate to the Danes.
Although he was included in the European squad, he never made another first-team appearance that season despite being on the bench for four out of six Europa League games.
Murray is very highly rated at Celtic. Ange Postecoglou was very wholesome in his praise of the youngster after his appearances in the Champions League. Although it is not known how long Murray will be out but hopefully, we will see him make a quick recovery to see him make the breakthrough into the Celtic first-team squad once again.
