Nobody is going to deny the pure hardline facts that Scottish football has been dominated by two teams in its history – Celtic and Rangers.
But there are far too many people, on the outside of Scottish football, who simply don’t understand the make-up of the domestic game, especially Celtic and Rangers, and what would happen if they had the financial backing of English sides.
What’s even worse is when pundits from England make certain comments about Scottish football, but showcase quite embarrassing knowledge whilst doing so.
That was proven when talkSPORT’s drive programme spoke about Celtic and Rangers, as well as Hoops hero Shunsuke Nakamura getting disrespected to the highest order.

Darrell Currie defends Scottish football after talkSPORT’s Celtic and Rangers discussion
Rangers are looking for a new manager, so it has caught the attention of the English media, especially given that Steven Gerrard has rejected an Ibrox return.
That topic went down the road of whether ‘any top-level player or manager’ would pick the SPFL over the English Championship.
That’s when Darren Bent started naming the great players of Celtic and Rangers’ past, and how it is a thing of the past, and you wouldn’t leave a Championship side, pushing for Premier League promotion, and join the Glasgow duo.
Of course, they didn’t mention the financial side and how that has dominated players’ and managers’ thinking in the modern game, because if Celtic or Rangers had the financial funds of England, then it wouldn’t even be a conversation.
But things got worse when Bent, naming a few Celtic icons, proceeded to showcase his quite embarrassing knowledge, by stating, ‘McNamura, I think his name was.’
And rightly so, TNT Sport presenter Darrell Currie, on social media, called out this ‘nonsense’ and ‘attention-seeking.’
‘😂 Attention seeking of the highest level,’ wrote Currie on social media. ‘Let’s be controversial to stir the pot 😂.
‘Don’t fall for this nonsense…. Same old boring s___t that emerges every few years. Must be a quiet news day.’
Shunsuke Nakamura, one of the greats of Scottish football
An icon, who even Rangers supporters, through gritted teeth, would admit that he was one of the best players to have graced the Scottish game.
Nakamura picked up six trophies during his time at Celtic, and since then, a wave of Japanese players have donned the famous green and white colours, with his legacy living on.
Two of them are currently on board – Scotland’s PFA Player of the Year, Daizen Maeda, and the maestro, Reo Hatate.
