Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack has demanded talks with the Scottish Government about how Scottish football can plan for the future, the Evening Express reports.
He has also praised the safety measures taken by Celtic to deal with Covid-19 which have been implemented at Celtic Park.
Cormack is concerned about the prospect of selling season tickets for next season when there is no guarantee that fans will be able to return to stadiums by then.
“Get a plan in place”
“We’re looking to get together with the Scottish government and get a plan in place. The biggest concern is that with no plan, who’s going to buy season tickets in Scotland? How many fans will buy season tickets in Scotland across the board?” Cormack said, as quoted by the Evening Express.
He then went on to praise safety measures taken by Celtic, which were outlined by the Hoops all the way back in July.
“The best practices we have put together have come from the clubs together and the investments clubs like Celtic and ourselves have made in these precautions. They run to hundreds of pages” he concluded.
It must be a source of frustration to Cormack and indeed to those at Celtic that there doesn’t seem to be a plan in place to get fans back into Scottish football in the near future.
Season tickets must be a concern
There would be nothing more that Hoops chief Peter Lawwell would want than to have at least some fans at Celtic Park at some stage this season. However, there is no guarantee that is going to happen.
Cormack is correct about season tickets and that is another concern that Celtic will share. There is no guarantee that the Hoops fans will fork out next season like they did this season to finance a season where they won’t get to see games played in person.
It is imperative that the talks that Cormack demands are started sooner rather than later.
