Well, this is definitely something I’ve never seen before. Aberdeen Chairman, Dave Cormack took the unusual step of posting a video on social media to deny a transfer rumour involving Celtic goalkeeper, Conor Hazard.

Cormack admitted a slip of the thumb when he tweeted the Celtic player’s name then swiftly deleted it. That then forced his hand on posting a video to deny that Hazard is a transfer target for the Pittodrie club.

Cormack tweeted, “Hi fellow Don’s fans. I know it’s late back home. But it’s still early here in Atlanta. Beautiful day, I understand the weather’s great at home as well.

“Absolutely fantastic result for Scotland today. Really tremendous result for the whole nation. I just deleted a tweet and obviously people with notifications on saw it.

“I thought I was searching and actually ended up replying to Alan Burrows. No one will believe me. But no one’s mentioned Connor [Hazard] to me at all.

“I was just simply doing a whole bunch of searching that I normally do on players. And so that’s what happened.

“Some of you who think that when I tweet this late in the UK time, think I’ve been at the sauce for a while. I can’t use that as an excuse because I’ve been teetotal for about 15 years now.”

Does Conor Hazard have a future at Celtic?

Simply put? No. With Joe Hart the clear number one at the club, Hazard would need to oust Ben Siegrist as the number two and then Scott Bain as the backup keeper.

At 25 years old, Hazard is at a stage in his career where he needs regular football if he ever has designs on becoming Northern Ireland’s No 1 ‘keeper.

Hazard did enjoy a successful spell at HJK Helsinki where he helped the Finnish club become champions, but he returned to the club this summer where he had to sit in the stands to watch Celtic win the treble at Hampden.

The Celtic goalkeeper did sign a contract extension in 2021 but never played a single minute under ex-boss Ange Postecoglou.

According to Transfermarkt, his contract expired on the 31st of May this year but as yet, there has been no statement from the club confirming his release or whether his is staying on.
