Dave King talks utter waffle with latest Rangers claim, as he hasn’t learned his past Celtic lesson

It seems as though some people need to be reminded of what Celtic have been achieving for decades now.

For 14 out of the last 15 seasons, Celtic have been champions of Scotland, but by the end of it all, it’s Rangers who are always making the most noise.

That is happening again, as Rangers have new investment, in the form of the 49ers Enterprise, as well as a new manager in Russell Martin – he is expected to be announced pretty soon.

Just before Steven Gerrard stopped Celtic from winning the ten, then-Ibrox chairman Dave King claimed that those in green and white will collapse like a ‘pack of cards’ as soon as Rangers are champions again.

King clearly didn’t learn his lesson because, not only have Celtic won the last four titles, but he is waffling again.

Dave King talks about Rangers dominating ahead of Celtic after 49ers takeover

Rangers need to try and win a few domestic trophies, perhaps beat Celtic when it matters, such as the League Cup final in November or last season’s Scottish Cup final, before they can talk about domination.

That’s the rubbish King spouted on Sky Sports, including how much he believes in these current investors that have come into Ibrox.

But King took his delusion one step further by suggesting, ‘I don’t think it will take too long’ before Rangers are at the top of Scottish football, and staying there.

“This group of investors, I believe 100% are right for the club,” said King. “I say that as a supporter. I am optimistic about the future. I think it’s someone the supporters can get behind.

“I truly, truly believe. I wouldn’t be saying this otherwise to the supporters. I truly, truly believe the club is in the right hands. I think this decision is certainly the right decision. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have endorsed myself.

“I do believe we are going to get the club back to the top of football in Scotland. How long will it take? I am not too sure. I don’t think it will be too long. It won’t be immediate.

“I do think it will be done sustainably, as in, when we are back, we will stay back, and that’s not what happened after 55. We got back, but we didn’t stay there.”

Celtic and Rangers’ trophies since 2000

During Rodgers’ reign in Glasgow, Celtic have won more Trebles than Rangers have won titles. The men before him and after him have lifted silverware after silverware.

It’s non-stop, and the signs suggest that the Hoops are just going to continue to march on and prove to everyone why they are Scotland’s most successful club.

If that’s not believable for those on the other side, then just take a look at Celtic and Rangers’ trophy count since the turn of the century.
