You could make a few comparisons between Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur, in regard to how they are being run from the top.
Celtic fans want changes in the boardroom, and those paying their tickets at Spurs have wanted the majority shareholders, ENIC, previously led by Daniel Levy, to sell the club because supporters have had enough.
The English Premier League side recently got their wish when Levy left Tottenham at the start of the month, in a move and call that came as a surprise, but delighted their fans.
One man who has an association with both clubs is David Pleat. He was hired as a scout by the champions of Scotland in 2025, and he also managed Tottenham over two decades ago.
David Pleat on how Celtic are run from the top
The 2025 summer transfer window spoke for itself, but speaking on talkSPORT, Pleat thinks Celtic are run in a ‘very sensible’ fashion.
He proceeded to compare them to Spurs, including how they are ‘very well run’ on the financial side and how they have a ‘clear direction.’
Of course, there was nothing ‘clear’ about what Celtic did in the summer, but Pleat did laud Scotland’s most successful club, and how the support from the fans is ‘incredible.’
Jim White: “I’m not sure how relevant it is either, these days, David, but you’ve been up there and you know Celtic, that is one massive club.”
Pleat: “Oh, it’s a wonderful club. I mean, the support is incredible. I mean, everyone knows it, the atmosphere at Celtic Park, but they’ve always had good Scottish players.
“You go back to the Lisbon Lions, they’ve always been, that’s what they’ve been noted for, not necessarily foreign players. They have a model, and they’re very sensible. They’re well run, a bit like Tottenham has been very well run on the financial side, so they’ve got a clear direction.”
Brendan Rodgers is ‘bored of winning’ at Celtic
Going from the start of the 2025/26 season, Rodgers has won a total of 11 trophies in the famous green and white colours, including four during his second spell as manager.
Celtic have been so dominant under Rodgers that, not winning the Treble since his return, is seen as a disappointment, but let’s see what happens this term.
Saying that, Pleat thinks a ‘frustrated’ Rodgers is probably now ‘bored of winning’ at Celtic.
“But it can be frustrating for a manager when you’re continually winning and still get frustrated,” added Pleat.
“You look at Brendan now, and sometimes he looks a little bit frustrated. Maybe he’s bored with winning.”
