Celtic fans began the first wave of protests against the board by remaining out of the stands against Kilmarnock for the first 12 minutes.
A statement from the Green Brigade confirmed there would be a protest at Rugby Park after several supporters’ clubs issued a vote of no confidence against the board.
It comes days after Brendan Rodgers called out an unnamed member of the hierarchy following comments on his future.
The protest was evident to see live on Sky Sports, and many Celtic fans responded to what they saw on social media.
How Celtic fans responded to fan protests
Once the 12 minute mark passed, those who began the game outside then made their way into the stadium, prompting a mixed range of messages online.
@BenFranklin2019 wrote: “Looks on TV like around 1/2 the Celtic supporters are participating in the protest.”
Scottish Daily Mail writer John McGarry posted a picture of the away end before kick off at Rugby Park, saying: “Visiting End at Killie less than a fifth full at kick off as Celtic fans protest against the running of their club.”
@anthonyabrown commented: “The away end at Rugby Park half full / empty as sections of the Celtic support boycott the first 12 minutes in protest at the club’s board.”
Meanwhile, @Gentile_Rivera added: “Are the Celtic ‘fans’ who have ignored the protest happy with the management of the club?”
@JimDolan1371955 said: “It’s the only way to get their attention. Celtic fans did it after the ‘covid cup’ League debacle as well and will get results again.
Not everyone joined in with Celtic protest
While it was clear that the protest has the full support of almost every Celtic fan, some opted not to join in and took their place in the visitors section.
A banner in the away end read ‘Sack the board’ while the BBC Sport live feed said that the away end looked about one fifth full with 20 minutes to go before kick-off.
Supporters are of course entitled to support or protest however they wish.
