Celtic great Davie Hay has identified a trio of players who will be key to the Hoops’ bid to win 10 in a row, the Celtic View reports.

Hay was part of the Celtic side in the 1970s that won nine in a row. If the current Celtic side are to go one better, he believes that the trio of captain Scott Brown, Callum McGregor and James Forrest will be key to that process.

“He’s highly influential with regards to the rest of the players both on and off the pitch” Hay said, as quoted by the Celtic View (Volume 56, Issue 4 Page. 32) about the Hoops skipper Brown.

“Winning mentality will be important”

“James Forrest and Callum McGregor come under that bracket as well. The winning mentality will be important this season because Celtic’s rivals are more desperate than ever to stop them.”

It is easy to see why Hay has identified the above trio as key for the Hoops in the bid to win 10 in a row. After, the trio have won 25 league titles between them.

However, there is a player that is arguably even more important than the trio Hay mention to the current Hoops side. That player is Odsonne Edouard.

Player not named potentially more important

It is Edouard, not Brown, McGregor and Forrest who will hold the key to the Hoops winning 10 in a row.

Edouard’s importance to Celtic has only grown season by season. It could even be argued that he rivals Moussa Dembele when it comes to the best Celtic strikers of the last few seasons.

Perhaps Hay didn’t include him in his list as he is not as experienced as the trio of Brown, McGregor and Forrest. However, after only a few years at Celtic his influence on the side is arguably just as strong as the trio Hay mentions.

Hopefully the quartet can replicate the form they have shown in the last few seasons. If they do, Celtic should win 1o in a row comfortably.
