It’s Celtic who are the ones who buy those young gems or unheard of stars, before transforming them into top players.
There have been many great examples over the years, with the standout being Virgil van Dijk’s rise into becoming one of the world’s best, after spending two years in the colours of Celtic.
But the powers that be at Celtic Park made a call during the January transfer window that not even Brendan Rodgers expected, and you are hoping the club doesn’t regret it.
It has been well-documented that Kieran Tierney will return to Celtic in the summer, but talk of him coming back started before the winter transfer window.
That’s why the Hoops cut short Alex Valle’s loan spell from Barcelona, amid suggestions that Tierney could come back early, but that didn’t happen, and now the 21-year-old is having the time of his life in Italy.

Alex Valle is thriving at FC Como after Celtic exit
After Valle’s services weren’t needed in Glasgow, he returned to Spain, and Barcelona sent him to Italy to work under Cesc Fabregas at FC Como in Serie A for the rest of the season.
At the time, the newly-promoted side were hovering above the relegation zone and in a battle to survive, but then everything changed.
Since Valle’s move, they have won eight league matches, including six in a row, and their recent form makes them THE form side in Europe right now, as they sit in the top ten of Serie A.
‘@Como_1907’s perfect form puts them as THE most in-form side in Europe’s top 5 leagues,’ posted One Football.
‘Cesc Fàbregas, take a bow.’
Valle’s stats for FC Como
There is talk that Como will sign Valle permanently in a £5 million deal, and with everything surrounding Greg Taylor, also Jeffrey Schlupp dropping back to the bench, you wonder if the young Spanish star should have stayed on.
Tierney as the main guy, and Valle as the back-up, would have been a brilliant combination next season, and just like the goalkeepers, they would have ticked both boxes in terms of age.
Nonetheless, this is how Valle has fared since moving to Como compared to his performances for Celtic.
