What a weekend it was in Glasgow!
Celtic celebrated trophy day and their 2024/25 Premiership title by recording a 1-1 draw against St Mirren on home soil, including that much-awaited and record-breaking James Forrest goal.
Over in Edinburgh, Rangers were finishing second again by securing a 2-2 draw against third-placed Hibernian, including a controversial moment during the game.
A Nico Raskin goal was deemed to have crossed the line, but with no goal-line technology in Scotland, it meant that the game continued and David Gray’s side would then go on to secure a point.
VAR didn’t intervene in the matter because it is not designed to, but, either way, the pictures weren’t clear as to whether the ball had crossed the line or not.
But that didn’t stop Rangers from having a little cry, as the whole thing was discussed on Ref Watch.

Will Scotland introduce goal-line technology after Rangers incident at Hibernian?
There are now calls for goal-line technology to be introduced, and that was put on the table of former Premier League referee, Dermot Gallagher.
Former Premier League defender Stephen Warnock also added in his penny’s worth and feels things now have to ‘change’, as he told Sky Sports News (19/05/25).
“Is it a necessity now in Scotland, after this incident?” asked presenter Rob Wotton about bringing in goal-line technology.
Gallagher responded: “I still think, Rob. If you have the right angles. If you have the right shots from the VAR, it can be incorporated. It’s a different product, isn’t it?! We know that. But you showed me an angle as soon as I came in today, ‘Look, that ball is over the line.'”
Stephen Warnock added: “Quite clearly. It does have to change, because you are then looking at incidents like this. If you can clear that up quicker.
“I am with Dermot, though. VAR can do that. VAR can clearly see that it is over the line.”
Celtic celebrate on trophy day, as another Rangers manager departs
All of this goal-line technology talk shouldn’t hide the fact that Celtic are Scotland’s most successful club, including winning 14 out of the last 15 titles.
But not long after Celtic celebrated the title on Saturday afternoon, Barry Ferguson headed for the Ibrox exit door, as another Rangers boss bit the dust.
Rodgers has been an expert at seeing off Rangers managers, and that’s two within six months, as you wonder who will be next.
Bring whoever it is on, because as Rodgers has proved time and time again, he will lift title after title, including another possible Treble incoming.
