Eddie Howe praises "incredible" Ange Postecoglou Celtic work as he watches on at what might've been

Ask most Celtic supporters if they’re glad Ange Postecoglou ended up in Glasgow instead of Eddie Howe and you’ll be met with a resounding yes.

Howe was the man Celtic courted for much of last Spring before the move fell through and the club moved on to the Australian.

In a sliding doors moment, Postecoglou arrived on his own in the middle of a global pandemic where Howe was unwilling. He hasn’t looked back since.

Speaking in a press conference today, Howe admits he is impressed with the work Ange has done.

As quoted by Newcastle World, he said: “I think he’s done an incredible job.

“I did actually watch the Old Firm game on Sunday. It was a very interesting game, the atmosphere is always electric and are very interesting games to watch from a coach’s point of view.

“Full credit to him, his staff and players for what he’s done this season because it was a team in slight transition and I think he’s been excellent in recruitment.”

If Howe thought Celtic were only in slight transition then I’m glad he wasn’t tasked with the rebuild.

He is now in the northeast of England with riches to spend and a big support to placate. In the end, it’s probably worked out alright for both parties.

Celtic certainly have no regrets and Howe has the chance to build a long-term project in the Premier League, a division he obviously has an affinity for.

Thankfully, the stars aligned and allowed us to experience the Postecoglou reign, which has been a thrilling, passionate ride back to the top of the Scottish Premiership.
