It’s a song that has taken social media by storm and after being invited to perform ‘Jota on the Wing’ at a packed Celtic Park on Saturday, Ellie Dixon has thanked the club and the fans on Twitter for making her day at the club ‘memorable’.
The singer-songwriter caused a storm on social media when she created her own rendition of the popular Celtic song and what started off as an acoustic cover on Patrick Kielty’s BBC 5 Live show has now grown in popularity amongst the Celtic fans.
Currently sitting at 112k views on YouTube, the song became in demand when it hit TikTok [825k views] and went viral.
And recognising the song’s popularity amongst the fans, Ellie was invited to meet the Portuguese winger at Celtic Park as well as perform it in front of 60,000 Celtic supporters prior to the Glasgow Derby kick off.
Celtic took to Twitter to thank Dixon for her rendition of the song and praised the fans for their warm welcome of the singer and Ellie responded this afternoon to share the same sentiments.
No one could have predicted just how popular this rendition of the song was going to be but clearly, it has also been helped by just how much the fans love our Portuguese winger.

Jota has been in superb form for Celtic since signing for the club initially on loan in 2021 where his skill and trickery instantly turned him into a fan’s favourite.
In forty appearances for the club in his loan season, Jota scored thirteen goals and created fourteen assists which convinced Ange Postecoglou to shell out £6m for his services last summer to make the move permanent.
The 24-year-old has continued his excellent form this season and the fans will be looking forward to seeing Jota on the wing when the club visit Rugby Park this Sunday.
