English amateur club Catholic United have stated that Celtic signing Cameron Carter-Vickers helped bring them 22,000 new followers over the last year.
Carter-Vickers played with the Southend-based side during his youth days before being picked up by Tottenham Hotspur. And after giving the club a shutout immediately after signing for the Hoops [Celtic FC], interest in them appeared to boom.
The Essex club released a statement thanking Celtic supporters for their growing interest in the club, with history between them and the Hoops stretching back over 50 years ago.

And speaking to the Daily Record, club chairman James Paviour has told of the full scale of interest his team has received from Celtic supporters:
“As a by-product of him signing for Celtic we gained 22,000 followers on social media and have had people make trips down from Glasgow to watch out games. The whole thing has just been a fairytale.
“He’s a local boy who went to the catholic primary school here. A few of our current team were in his class. We have a Sunday League team too and a few of those boys still speak to him regularly. He was a supreme athlete even back then. A very capable player with enormous drive.
“It’s so pleasing to see how successful he has been. I was always a Celtic follower anyway so Cameron going there changed nothing in that regard.”
Catholic United and Celtic relationship dates back over 50 years
Of course, the link stretches further than Carter-Vickers.
Back in 1968, Catholic United requested jerseys from Celtic for a cup final clash. The Hoops obliged, and since then the amateur side has been forever thankful to the Hoops and have worn them with pride.
Seeing Carter-Vickers at Celtic Park these days is surely something that gives them great delight and pride too. Another way in which our bond with them has strengthened recently.

Now, Celtic supporters are simply awaiting the news of CCV staying at Parkhead permanently. That would put the seal on a fantastic debut campaign at Parkhead in which the USA international has been a title-winning stalwart.
There’s yet more reason to be delighted for Catholic United given Carter-Vickers would become the first ever player of theirs to have gone on to feature in the UEFA Champions League. That’s if he stays at Celtic Park of course.
The sooner this deal is wrapped up, the easier Celtic supporters will be able to sleep at night.
