Erling Haaland’s incredible Champions League stat doesn’t make good reading for Celtic

It would be interesting to know how many Celtic fans are actually paying attention to this season’s Champions League, given that the Hoops are not in it.

But on Wednesday night, Erling Haaland did what he does best for Manchester City, and that’s bag himself a few goals.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City recorded a 2-2 draw in Monaco, with Eric Dier netting a stoppage-time equaliser to seal a point for his team.

Haaland scored a brace, as those two goals, unfortunately, put Celtic in a bracket of sides they don’t want to be in.

Erling Haaland’s Champions League goals compared to Celtic

The volume at which Haaland is scoring goals is just ridiculous, and his game in Monaco was his 50th in his Champions League career.

The Norway international has netted 52 goals during that period, and unfortunately for Celtic, he has outscored them from their first 50 Champions League matches.

The only saving grace for the champions of Scotland, if there is any, is that they aren’t the only team on that list, and are joined by a few other heavyweights.

Haaland’s career goals so far…

Even with players like Haaland running riot, Celtic will want to return to the Champions League as soon as possible.

By then, you wonder how many career goals Haaland will be on, because so far, his numbers are Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo-esque.
